Imposters In Effect - Beastie Boys Tribute Detroit Concert reviews
Average Dave night
I flew into town hoping for some more acts like John Butler Trio. Dave outrocks the best, but for DMB, it was just an average night due to their choice of songs. It was really overpowered by the music, and his voice was great. But I did not dig the opening band - totally not my cup of tea, sorry. No offense to the guy who played the banjo, but two songs? I've never liked the whiney country stuff. Also, given that I'm not the biggest fan of the latest c.d., I was not thrilled that almost a 1/4 of the concert was dedicated to these songs. I was not happy, and the audience was leaving in droves. While I could tell the band was having fun, the jams were amazing. I loved Jimmy thing! Also, it was disappointing that the sax had a weaker mike.
